We are pleased to announce a series of workshops designed to go ‘Beyond Fusing Basics’. Over the course of the workshops, you will learn several intermediate/advanced fusing skills and techniques that you can continue practicing and improving either at home or during our monthly Fusing Camp.

Each of these workshops can be taken separately, or as the full series. Each workshop will have its own information page on our website, as we develop each lesson plan.

Advanced Fusing - Drop Vase Workshop

Instructors: Carol and Wendy

We’ll teach you how to make a vase by dropping it (no, not that way!) in a kiln. You will make your own mold, which can be re-used at home later. This technique can be used to make dishes and vases of various sizes and shapes, with the only limitation really being how tall of a kiln you have access to.

On the date listed below, you will be making the drop mold, as well as observing an example drop occurring. Due to the difficulty of scheduling numerous days/times with students, we will be doing your drop for you. Class notes will be provided so you will remember all the steps to succeed at home.

Though this can be a continuation of a piece you made in the Bubble Up! workshop recently, you do not need to have attended that one to take part in this drop mold workshop. We will give you instructions on the day that you make the mold about what to prepare for a glass blank for us to drop.

Bring: N95 mask (making the mold can be dusty), your pre-fired blank from Bubble Up! (if you attended)

Cost: $55.00
Includes: all supplies for the mold, and one firing (the drop)

Saturday 5/11/24, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
